ACTIVISM POSTERS
For my senior project at Assumption College (Spring 2016) we were all pushed to create a project that would be both meaningful to us and that would bring attention to a cause. I have always been passionate about animals and the conservation of the environment so I chose to highlight a few endangered species. We were allowed to use any sort of art to complete our topics and as a result I chose to mix both physical and digital arts. I used a mix of linoleum block printing and digital art to design them and they were originally printed at the size 24x36.
the process
When approaching this project I knew right from the start that I wanted to combine both digital and physical art styles. From this I came up with the idea to try linoleum block printing. I drew all of the animals on the linoleum and carved out all of the lines. This process was more tedious than I ever imagined and it took forever! By the end of each one I was seriously questioning my decision to go this more challenging route! However, the end result made it worth it as the print process was very rewarding. I later scanned the prints in Photoshop and meshed them in with other photographic elements that I had been collecting to design the posters themselves. I received a very positive response to them at my Senior Art Show and to this day they are one of my favorite design pieces.
